What are the types of Child ADHD?
ADHD in children is categorized into three types based on the predominant symptoms:
- Predominantly Inattentive Presentation: This type is characterized primarily by symptoms of inattention. Children may have trouble paying attention to details, sustaining focus on tasks, and organizing activities. They may seem forgetful, easily distracted, and often lose items necessary for tasks and activities.
- Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation: Children with this type exhibit significant hyperactivity and impulsivity. They may be fidgety, unable to stay seated, run or climb in inappropriate situations, and have difficulty playing quietly. Impulsive behaviors include interrupting others, blurting out answers, and struggling to wait their turn.
- Combined Presentation: This is the most common type of ADHD and involves a combination of both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. Children with this presentation display a wide range of challenges affecting attention, behavior, and impulse control.
